Guido Appenzeller is currently a special advisor to Andreessen Horowitz, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm.
He previously was the Chief Technology Officer for Intel’s Data Platforms Group (DPG), where he was responsible for technical direction and pathfinding across the data platforms portfolio.
Prior to joining Intel, Guido was Chief Product Officer at Yubico where he focused on product development and strategy. Guido was previously the CTO, Cloud & Networking at VMware where he helped define VMware’s Multi-Cloud Strategy and was part of the team that grew NSX to a $1B product line. Before VMware, he co-founded Big Switch Networks (acquired by Arista) and Voltage Security (acquired by HP), leading those companies as CEO and CTO respectively.
Guido received a Test of Time Award from SIGCOMM. He was named to the MIT TR35, with Voltage Security was named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs by Goldman Sachs.
From 2008 to 2010 Guido was a Consulting Assistant Professor at Stanford University. Guido holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and M.S. (Diplom) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
