Animations
We made animations to show how router buffers and TCP interacts. We
received a few requests for these animations so here they are.
Re-use of these animations is encouraged and permission to copy,
modify and re-distribute is granted if Guido Appenzeller and Nick
McKeown are attributed. Links to the Flash/ActionScript Source are
below.
Router with Sufficient Buffering
This shows what happens in a router serving a single flow that has
buffers of one delay bandwidth product.
The speed of the animation can be controlled using the cursor keys. Left is slow, down is medium and right is fast. Default speed is slow. The animation will stop after a few sawteeth.
Flash source for the animation is here.
Router with No Buffering
This shows what happens in a router serving a single flow that has
no buffering (or rather a single packet)
The speed of the animation can be controlled using the cursor keys. Left is slow, down is medium and right is fast. Default speed is slow. The animation will stop after a few sawteeth.
Flash source for the animation is here.
